2009 Winner: Vicki Ragan
The Harold Jones Distinguished Alumni Committee proudly announces UA Photography Program Graduate (MFA,1981) Vicki Ragan as the 2009 recipient of the Harold Jones Distinguished Alumni Award.
Vicki Ragan will give a lecture “From Public to Intimate: A Journey in Photography,” discussing her photographic work and career on Friday, October 16, at the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona, in Tucson, Arizona.

Ms. Ragan, a graduate of both the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Arizona in Tucson, has exhibited in major venues around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in Moscow, the Museum of Modern Photography in Tokyo, the Museum of Natural History in Paris, Photokina in Cologne, Germany, the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Arizona, the Brooklyn Museum of Fine Art, FotoFest in Houston, the Houston Center for Photography, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and the Southeastern Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach, Florida. John Ganis/2008
John is a photographer and photo educator whose current work is a personal response to the land and environmental issues. According to John Ganis, βthe American approach towards the land is often characterized by mindless development and exploitation of both public and private land for corporate profit [and] we are now aggressively exporting this consumerist attitude to the rest of the world.β
Ann Fessler/2007
Ann is Professor of Photography at Rhode Island School of Design where she has served as Head of the Photography Department and Coordinator of the Graduate program. She is an educator, arts administrator, photographer, filmmaker, installation artist, and publisher of several artist books.
Peter MacGill/2006
Peter MacGill was the first recipient of the Harold Jones Distinguished Alumni Award. Peter MacGill, Director of Pace/MacGill Gallery, New York was among the very first to members of the Graduate Photography Program at the UA. He received his MFA in May 1977. More about Peter MacGill.
